I am dedicated to providing therapeutic services to those who suffer from emotional and physical challenges, as a catalyst to build hope, promote healing and inspire growth, so that clients can courageously live a fulfilling life despite their difficult circumstances and THRIVE.

I am a passionate therapist who is comfortable with the really difficult parts of life. I help others heal and encourage them to live the best version of their lives despite dealing with pain, illness, trauma and despair.

I have battled an autoimmune illness that involves chronic pain for over 15 years, along with Triple Negative breast cancer in 2015, and other trauma in my life. Therefore I have an incredibly unique combination of life experience, clinical training and years of helping others with these issues. I realize that there are very few therapists who have the intricate knowledge of how trauma and health problems (i.e. chronic pain / illness, autoimmune disease, cancer, heart disease, etc.) impact a person's life.

Health challenges and trauma bring about a lot of different emotional, mental and relational issues that are often more difficult than the actual illness or trauma. I work to help you leverage your strengths, help build up hope, increase resilience (since nobody comes equipped on how to handle things like this) and learn ways to cope and thrive. Each person's situation is unique and I work with you in an integrative manner so that you get the best results.

My goal is to create a safe environment where trust is built through genuine honesty, empathy and authenticity. I work with you in an open and non-judgmental way to help empower you to live the best version of your life regardless of circumstances. I have worked with children (as young as four), adults, couples, adolescents, teens and entire families, as well as group therapy.

Common issues that I help people with are:

~ Chronic pain / illness, autoimmune disease, cancer, and any health problem that causes distress

~ Relationship, sex and intimacy problems

~Women's health and wellness issues

~ Trauma and PTSD

~ Grief, loss, denial and anger; for life as it was ‘before’ or what ‘could have been’ versus what must be endured now

~ Loss of self-esteem and self-confidence

~ Depression and Anxiety

~ Managing changes in roles and boundaries

~ Stress due to added pressure and financial issues

~ Feeling ‘stuck’ in emotions or thoughts– such as bottling them up, pushing things aside, over-analyzing or brooding, or maybe even beliefs/stories that may not serve you anymore.

~ Medical Trauma from diagnosis and treatment related to illness

~ Psycho-oncology

~ Adjusting to the new reality

~ Help with compliance of new health program

~ Anxiety of how to adjust, handle the changes, or what will happen in the future

Approach

I have helped many people and their families learn to cope and adjust to what life is throwing at them. It's possible to live life courageously despite what circumstances come up. Life can get complicated and overwhelming, I can help you navigate so that you can live the best version of your life.

I work in a systemic, integrative method that addresses your unique needs and circumstances rather than forcing your problems to fit into a specific theory. I am constantly adjusting therapy to the growth and change within you, but based on the treatment plan that was created at the start of therapy in order to accomplish goals.

Theories that I use in an Integrative Manner:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT)

  • Attachment Theory

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Creative art expression

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)

  • Evidence Based Treatments

  • Family Systems

  • Gestalt / Existential Therapy

  • Grief, Loss and Bereavement Therapy

  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Person Centered

  • Positive Psychology

  • Post-traumatic Growth

  • Psycho-oncology (Cancer Therapy)

  • Stress Management

  • Trauma Focused - CBT
